How to rename a payment method at Shopify checkout
If your Shopify checkout shows a payment option with a generic name — something like “Online Payment Options” — many of your customers won’t recognize it. They know brands: JazzCash, Easypaisa, their bank’s card. When the label at checkout doesn’t match what they expect to pay with, they hesitate, and hesitation at checkout costs you sales.
The good news: you can rename any payment method to a clear, trusted label in just a couple of minutes — no code, no theme editing.
Why payment gateway labels are often confusing
Most Pakistani and regional payment gateways bundle several methods — cards, JazzCash, Easypaisa — behind a single checkout entry with a generic name. That name usually reflects the gateway provider, not the payment method your customer actually uses. So a shopper who wants to pay with JazzCash sees an unfamiliar label and isn’t sure they’re in the right place.
How to rename a payment method with PayShift
PayShift lets you rename payment methods at checkout with a simple rule:
- Install PayShift (free) and open it from your Shopify admin.
- Create a new rule and choose Rename.
- Select the payment method with the confusing label, and enter the clear name you want customers to see — for example, change “Online Payment Options” to “JazzCash.”
- Save. The new label appears at checkout instantly.
Other things you can do
